ADHD & Bi-Polar Success Stories
In April 2001, Indigo blue Creations began working with a family in Longmont, Colorado whose twelve year old son, diagnosed with Bi-Polar Disorder, was taking two different prescription medications to regulate his mood and behavior.

Trey's most disruptive behavior was his compulsion to wash his hands until they bled. Within our first energy medicine session, co-facilitated by two energy medicine practitioners, we located and cleared the core problem that was creating Trey's need to wash his hands excessively. To date, Trey continues to be free of this self-inflicting behavior.
Nutritionally, we placed Trey on chinese herbs to detox his liver where much of his anger resided, increased his intake of whole foods such as steamed carrots and beets to maintain a balanced glucose level, while decreasing white flour and sugar laded products that derailed his digestive capabilities and and energy production.
We taught Trey and his sister and brother how to juice the vegetables they liked as an after school snack and supported them in spending more time in nature rather than infront of over stimulating TV video games. We conducted guided visualizations that empowered Trey to use his Pokeman card deck as a resource for protection and transformation rather than destruction and violence.

We then visited Trey's middle school. We spoke with his teachers about any special needs or challenges he was having. They were excited to work with us and offered to report any changes as noted. After four months, Trey began handing in long homework assignments completed. With practice, he developed self-regulation skills that helped him gain control of his temper. He took pride in assisting us in co-facilitating emotional management sessions that helped his younger brother and sister learn what he had learned over the past few months.
Within a very short time, all three siblings exhibited an ability to call upon resources within themselves to manage emotions that were typically expressed as temper tantrums. Meanwhile, Trey's mom began restoring balance to her 24/7 care taking activities by carving out quality time for herself by taking nature walks and reading for enjoyment.

Both Mom and Dad attended "Becoming a Love & Logic Parent" classes which teaches parents how to share the control by offering their children choices that allow life's consequences to be the teacher. Within the Love and Logic guidelines, empathy rather than punishment, creates the respect indigo children exhibiting bi-polar and attention deficit disorder thrive on.

Trey remained on his medication during the nine months we worked with him and his family.

At the end of our study, both his mom and dad reported that their son exhibited greater calmness and contentment. Numerous behaviors, including the inclination to be overly sexual without concern for his body diminished greatly. Trey took a more active role in his household chores as well as greater responsibility as older brother to his younger siblings.

Our work with Jessy began in the year 2000. She came to us while attending special ed classes at her middle school. Jessy, diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, had difficulty reading and staying focused on her school work. Although quite tall at the age of twelve, her verbal and social skills were regressed. Jessy lacked a healthy sense of herself.

Our work with Jessy consisted of six months of faciliating energy medicine sessions that addressed her fear and
anger. Within her subconscious, we worked with letting go of her role in the family system to take on energies' from her mother that were being suppressed as a result of a past tradegy while freeing up rebellious energies from her dad that helped Jessie feel more secure in the world.
We incorporated pilates to realign her energy 'center', while increasing the quality and quantity of food intake. To assist Jessy in increasing her attention span, we used meditative walking, a focus exercise. We facilitated self-esteem and character building exercises that assisted her in developing greater reading skills. Through the use of guided visualization, she expanded her creative thinking and imagination, nourishing her heart and soul.

To contribute to Jessy feeling heard and met, on a weekly basis, we either baked (healthy) cookies together, worked out in a gym, swam or spent time reading for enjoyment. From her parents, Jessy received a gentle mare, creating the opportunity for her and her Dad to spend precious hours riding in nature together.
As a result, Jessy began to smile alot more. Infact, her Dad was proud to announce that his daughter expressed with confidence five things that had changed in her life as a result of participating in IBC's holistic program. Among them, her speech improved. She spoke more legiably and with greater self awareness and self confidence. She liked her self more and accepted life's ups and downs with greater ease. Jessy's posture improved and so did her relationship with her brother.

We recommended that Jessy attend Dream Catcher Direct Learning classes to assist her in developing greater speech and learning capabilities. Her family decided to give her time to assimilate the changes she had made within her current school environment and would consider supplemental education in the spring of the following year.
What made Jessy's transformation so impactful is the contribution her mom and dad made throughout her time with us. Both parents participated in our holistic wellness program by receiving energy medicine and psychotherapy sessions to support Jessy's process and their own. Within a few months, Jessy's father, Bob, decided to stop drinking the six pack of beer he usually relaxed into the evening with. This brought great relief to mom as she was better supported in her efforts to 'create family' that provided structure, consistency and greater intimacy.

A Mom's Testimonial of her son,
Levi, age 5.

My son, Levi Griswold, attends Rocky Mountain Elementary Preschool. Early this year, he was diagnosed with ADHD. His outbursts were mainly at home, but May 28th that changed.

After lunch and the pet store, we went to the play area in the mall. It started out fine, and then it happened. Lev's first public display of a meltdown occurred. It began with him being mouthy then turning physically violent. He began lashing out at me. As horrified onlookers watched, I grabbed his 6-month old sister and Levi in tow out of the area. He was screaming, hitting, kicking and saying I was a bad mother and that he hated me.

In the parking lot it became worse, began hitting and scatching his face and ran into traffic. He was unaware of the danger and frustration he was causing. All of these behaviors were occurring while while on Adderall, which was to help control this type of behavior. But even with the medication and play therapy he was still having 1 to 2 meltdowns a week.

At my wits end, I called Indigo Blue Creations out of The Parenting Place directory I received after having had my daughter. I was optimistic to say the least, for I had nothing else left to lose but my sanity. Tcha LaPlaca, the founder of IBC, has truly been a Godsend. After 3 energy medicine sessions co-facilitated by three alternative health practitioners, advise to be a more firm parent and drasically reducing the amount of sugar in his diet and environmental toxic in our house, Levi has made a truly remarkable turn around. He no longer is violent to him self and others.

Since treatment, Levi has gone from 6 or less hours of sleep at night to 9+. His obsession with scissors and knives has ceased. He is learning to use his words to vent his own frustrations. Since his whole attitude has taken a 180 degree turn, I've taken him off the Adderall and sedative that was supposed to help him sleep. It has been 8 weeks without a meltdown - by far the longest period we have ever had between meltdowns.

In fact, on Father's Day, his travel bag spilled when we got to my parents home. Normally this would have started a chain reaction ending in an emotional tantrum. But this time...when he saw what had happened, he simply looked at me and said "its okay mom, we can pick it up." We still have issues to work on, and now we have the resouce to get them solved. Thank you Indigo Blue Creations. Amy Griswold, Longmont, Colorado.

Additional Resources from
an IBC Affiliate Organization,
Sensory Learning Institute

Indigo blue Creations was gifted a state-of-the-art sensory learning program called SMILE. Mary Bolles, founder of The Sensory Learning Institute in Boulder, Colorado invented SMILE, a Supra-Modal Integrative Learning ExperienceŽ which unites three proven therapeutic modalities (light, sound and motion) into one seamless and holistic experience wanted us to experience first hand the transformative power of her program.

To assist children in feeling at home at the institute, the front room provides a wonderful assortment of stuffed animals, wooden toys and puzzles. Backster, Mary's trusted canine, accompanies the child on the table and often becomes their best buddy over the course of the program. Mary's heart-felt joy for helping children along with her kind husband Joseph, who manages the institute, co-create a safe, caring environment for families.

When Tcha LaPlaca, IBC's founder, was asked if she'd like Milia to receive the sensory modulation program, she gratefully accepted. Milia, Tcha's daughter is an indigo child. At three years of age, she expressed a strong sense of self, yet was very sensitive emotionally and to loud noises. She would exhibit boundless energy, playing until she'd 'crash', crying uncontrollably, until Tcha helped her eat enough to ground her energy, stablizing her bio-chemistry.

Tcha knew that she had passed on bi-polar tendancies to her daughter genetically and was hopeful SMILE could help reduce the behavioral extremes Milia was exhibiting at such an early age. Mary tested Milia using different sound frequencies. She showed signs of ADHD and compulsive behavior. SMILE was programmed to provide Milia with the appropriate light, sound and movement she needed to restore balance. SMILE engages the central nervous system with individualized combinations of visual, auditory, and vestibular stimulations, encouraging the brain to learn or relearn essential sensory skills, sensory modulation and self regulation.

Once the sessions began, it wasn't long before Milia became comfortable playing with the glow-in-the-dark toys Mary or her daughter used to help her stay focused on the light.

As a energy medicine practitioner,Tcha experienced the affects of the light therapy immediately. She combined her own light tools along with enzyme and mineral supplementation as she sat with Milia during the twelves days they visited Mary's office. By the eighth day, both Milia and Tcha were experiencing mania. Milia was having difficulty 'settling down', eating and sleeping through the night. Tcha was concerned the session would exagerbate both their condition. Mary asked Tcha to trust the process, which she did with welcomed relief.
Below are Milia's results after twelve days of SMILE, twice a day for 30 minutes plus 18 days at home sitting on Tcha's lap viewing a magenta colored light for twenty minutes once in the morning and at bedtime. Milia, reports her Mom, is a happier, more content little girl as a result of three things. Relocating her to a quieter school, her parents commiting themselves to giving Milia what she needs vs what she wants and SMILE.

As a result of SMILE , my daughter's heart soften and so have her wild, restless eyes and behavior. She's calmer, more relaxed about life. Her new Waldorff school teacher commented that Milia no longer has as issue with survival (a fight or flight brain pattern passed down genetically from Tcha's side of the family).
Milia now wakes up happy to be here! She exhibits a more balanced temperment and can sustain longer periods without needing food to regulate her brain chemistry. For example, during a swimming event that left Mila feeling tired and hungry, a situation where Milia would usually act out by hitting her mom, she was able to regulate her emotions.

" I'm grateful to Mary Bolles and Sensory Learning Institute for giving my daughter the opportunity for greater choices in life and in love."Tcha LaPlaca
